Our almost three-month-old turkey, Ariana, is still at the farm and unfortunately not drug free or cage free yet but nonetheless we would have loved to have her for Thanksgiving dinner. Her Thanksgiving meal consisted of skim breast milk while we had the more traditional roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, and pies.
There were some amazing volunteers at the house that spent part of their previous night and half their day today preparing meals for the Yawkey Inn and Autumn House. A Boston Bruin hockey player also dropped by this morning with a bunch of donated pies. For the families staying here, including our selves, it was good to have at least a resemblance of normalcy.
This was also the first year that we didn’t spend it with our families, friends or a good bottle of wine. Nina and I are very thankful that we have such loving and caring family and friends that have us in their thoughts and prayers. We are also thankful that our small family unit is able to be together during this tough time.
Ariana is making progress. They continue to increase her breast milk. The drainage from her right side is down and if the trend continues, she’ll be on full breast milk feeds next week. She is on paralytics and is heavily sedated and will continue to be so for a while. An esophagram is scheduled for December first, which will give us an accurate measure of esophageal growth.

Cousin Becky~
They're cute leg warmers and perfect for her dress. We hope to see you, too. We were planning a trip to KS in 2012 but will have to see how things go.
