Ari’s 3 Month Birthday

We hope everybody survived their favorite day after Thanksgiving activities, we know for some that involves Black Friday shopping and for others getting much needed rest and enjoying leftovers.

Hard to believe that our little warrior princess turned 3 months yesterday.  It’s been a weird combination of time going by super fast and other times, time seeming to be at a standstill.   She will have so much to look forward to once we can get her home and start her normal baby duties.

The good news is that she is making progress and according to the X-rays there has been some growth of her esophagus.    Later this week they will do an esophagram (X-ray pictures after they give her barium which will show exactly how much growth there has been).  This is luckily a non-invasive procedure and we will report the results as soon as we receive them.  Unfortunately, they had to stop the breast milk feedings due to the chylothorax still leaking chyle (milky bodily fluid consisting of lymph and fats).  During the next surgery they will attempt to fix this leak but it’s difficult to locate exactly where the leak is coming from.

Ella continues to wake up at ungodly hours, 3-3am being her latest choice of torture for her parents.  She wakes up smiling, dancing, and ready to explore the day, her parents wake up frowning, yawning and reaching for another cup of coffee.  Ella’s favorite new activity is feeding the local ducks at the nearby canal.

The weather here is pleasant and we continue to enjoy our beautiful walks.

Thank you, Cammie Heier for the wonderful package and for thinking of us.
