Proud Mama

It's been one week since they've taken out her breathing tube and she's doing great!  Her breathing is comfortable and unlabored.  We're very excited about this - she can finally breath without being intubated.  She is on a high flow cannula but that's nothing.

She has a surgery scheduled on Tuesday the 15th.  This is a fundoplication (wrapping part of the stomach around the end of the esophagus) that will treat reflux. The tricky part is that it has to be tight enought to reduce reflux but not too tight that she can't swallow.

This is where we need your help.  This is our wish list...

This will be a quick, successful and final surgery.   The surgery will go smoothly and perfectly.  The wrap will be tight enough but not too tight and she will not require any further intervention.   She will be intubated for this surgery and paralyzed again for several days.  She will heal quickly and the paralytics will be lifted sooner than later.  Once the breathing tube is taken out again, she will have no trouble making the transition to being extubated.  She will regain her voice not too long after the breathing tube is taken out - two days.  She'll start babbling within a few weeks right around the same time she'll start on full oral feeds.  She'll do this four, five, ten times sooner than expected.  She'll build her fine motor skills at a rapid pace and her gross motor skills will follow.  She'll be sitting up in no time.  She will regain her full hearing.  Before we know it she'll be crawling and walking and talking - 2 months.  She'll be a genius and will be a source of inspiration for all.  :)

That wish list is long, but it is nothing for God. He is big, real big, and I pray all these dreams, and more come true for your family. The Barnes family is rooting for you Ari, and praying even harder. I LOVE the pictures, and am so happy for you Nina! Hope you had a wonderful mothers day.
