Two steps forward, one step back. Because Ari’s edema (excess fluid in the tissue) is so severe, they’ve put the esophageal repair on the back burner. They need her swelling to go down before they can do any more surgeries. Also, her sutures are coming undone because they’ve been in longer than average. They’ve scheduled an esophagram for tomorrow to take a look at the esophageal tissue. They’ll put a plan together once they take look. The good news is that is she off off the paralytics and is able to look around. We have a mobile and and a mirror above that her that she looks at and Nina is spending all her time there calming her, reading to her, and giving her lots of love.
Thanks for all the hopes and wishes and thoughts and prayers. We need the swelling to come down and esophageal tissue to be healthy so please keep ‘em coming.

Well that's not the news I wanted to hear first thing this morning but 2 steps forward is much better than 2 steps backward! So glad though that she is off the paralytics and is able to check out the world around her! Hang tough little girl, we love you!
Just a minor setback. We're plugging along and moving forward.
