Surgery 9 – Bah Humbug

We hope everybody is enjoying their Christmas Eve with family.  Ariana had her 9th surgery on Friday to replace the sutures on the bottom and top of the esophagus. This surgery was a “short one”, she was only in the operating room for 9.5 hours, by Ari’s standards this was like a coffee break.  This was an expected surgery as the sutures start to degrade after several weeks.  The good news is we learned that the inside of the esophagus still looks healthy and there continues to be progress.  We feel as far as the connection part goes we are getting close to the finish line but realize that there are many obstacles on the racecourse in the second lap still remaining.  We’ll deal with those once we get there but right now we are concentrating on the positives.

Ella continues to be a “little star”.  The Boston Pops along with Joey Mcintyre performed at CHB and of course Ella was right there dancing. Our dancing queen was on 3 of the local TV stations that were reporting on the event.  CHB also donated tickets for us to bring Ella to see the Radio City Rockettes.  Ella met a few of the dancers and had one of the cutest and surprised expressions when Santa Claus came out in the beginning of the show.  It was priceless to see her face light up and her frantic waving.

The other exciting news is that my mom, Stephanie, arrived in Boston as the surgery was wrapping up.  She’ll be here all week, helping us out and spending Grandma time with Ella.  She managed to haul Christmas cookies, peanut brittle, and caramel popcorn along with her suitcase.  Ella absolutely adores her Grandma so she’s going to have a great week.

Shout out to Pavla, Nikita and the kids for the cards.  Thanks!

Have a great Christmas or Holiday of your choosing.
