The CAT scan shows that the abscess is still significant. The two small chest tubes (they call them pigtails) are not working to drain her chest of the fluids. The fluids are thick enough that they're clogging the tubes. So Ari made another trip to the OR today. They took out the two small chest tubes and replaced them with two big chest tubes. The doc is confident this will do the trick to clear up the infection and bring her electrolytes, potassium, etc... back to normal levels which will allow them, in time, to proceed with a major surgery to repair the esophagus again. Ari did great for the chest tube swap out. She was awake shortly after they brought her back to the NICU and got her all hooked up. It took her about an hour or so to settle in but I was able to leave the hospital tonight knowing that she was sleeping soundly.
I took a little excursion to the first floor of the hospital and donated blood today. It was quick and easy. No fainting spells. :D
Missing my Matt and Ella every day.
