Time for an overdue update
Since our last update, there hasn’t been too much new going
on. We are still waiting for her to be able to be successfully extubated and
breathe on her own. It’s a
familiar story with the same results; being in the hospital for 8 months has
only created new problems. Due to
her being intubated for so long there is irritation near her vocal cords and
she has tracheomalacia which are part of the reason that she hasn’t been able
to breath on her own for long.
On Thursday they plan to do an EGD (to check on the healing
of the esophagus) and a bronchoscopy to see the condition of her airway. Depending on how her airway looks they
might try to extubate her on Friday.
Nina was able to come home to spend some time with Ella and
Matt. It was a surprise for both
Ella and for Grandma when they saw her maybe more so for Grandma as you can see
in the picture. Nina and Matt were
able to spend their 6th wedding anniversary together, which was good
for the soul.
Thank you again for all your concerns and support. We do feel like we are getting closer
each day to having her come home.
Matt, Nina, Ella, and Ariana

This makes me SO HAPPY!!! Matt, I am still trying to figure out a time when I can come up and steal Ella away. I've been working double shifts covering for co-workers lately, which has complicated my efforts. We're also getting our house ready to list so we can move back to Sherwood! :)
So glad to read the Cinco de Ari (LOL) update. You are all in my thoughts every day. We're gonna get that angel home to party in Portland for her 1st birthday!!!
Love you all.
Michele
